Finalist Information

CONGRATULATIONS!
Your business is a Finalist in the 2012 Sydney Business Awards, and you have joined an elite group of successful Sydney businesses. Over the coming months you will have opportunities to network and form peer groups amongst other finalists, Awards partners and stakeholders.

THE FINALIST TIMELINE

  • Wednesday 28 August: Finalist Reception at Lower Town Hall, Sydney. All Finalists will receive a Finalist certificate, meet the Lord Mayor and enjoy food, drinks and networking.
  • Friday 7 September: Finalist Questionnaires are due. Finalists MUST complete the questionnaire to be eligible. Finalists in some retail and hospitality categories will also be visited by a "mystery shopper."
  • Wednesday 10 October: Awards Dinner at The Westin Sydney, with host David Koch. This event will sell out, so book your tickets today to avoid disappointment!

FINALIST TOOLS
We have prepared Zip file including a media release template and a selection of Finalist logos for use in your marketing. Click here to download the Finalist tools. (1.46 MB)

Inside this Zip file you will find the media release template as an editable Word Document, plus the small, large and hi-res versions of the logos (in both green and white background versions). These can be used on your website, email signature, Facebook page, Twitter profile and in your newsletters to promote your success and association with the Awards. Before sending out the media release to your database, make sure to fill in the correct date and your business information where the red text is currently.

QUESTIONNAIRE
In order to win your category, all finalists are required to complete our business questionnaire, which will be assessed by an independent panel of judges. Winners in each category will automatically be considered for Business of the Year or Small Business of the Year. All questionnaires are due by Friday 12 August, and winners announced at the Awards Dinner.

HIGH ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

In addition to the business category awards, there are several special categories your business may enter.

ANZ Fast Starter Award
Principal Sponsor ANZ’s Fast Starter Award recognises fast-growing Sydney companies and the entrepreneurs behind them. The award and prize are open to all Sydney Business Awards Finalists in operation more than three years with annual turnover of more than $5million dollars in the most recent financial year (2010 – 2011). The prize is a scholarship to the CEO School valued at $5,000. The CEO School is a selective program for CEOs, managing directors and senior executives. The winner will be announced Tuesday 13 September at the Awards Dinner.

Lord Mayor’s Sustainability Award
The prestigious Lord Mayor’s Award for Sustainable Business, presented by EnergyAustralia, celebrates high achievement and commitment to excellence in sustainability practice, strategy and products. Businesses entering this category must demonstrate leadership, innovation and measurable outcomes.
