General - Terms and Conditions
- Businesses must meet the eligibility criteria in order to nominate and enter the City of Sydney Business Awards. Each business must:
- have its principal place of business located in the Local Government Area of the City of Sydney,
- have fewer than 200 full time employees, and be independently owned
- The event organisers reserve the right to verify the validity of business names and addresses.
- Only nominations completed on the official Nomination Form on the web site will be accepted as valid.
- By submitting the nomination form, businesses accept the Terms and Conditions.
- Voting and Nominations close at 11:59pm on Friday 30 July 2010.
- Business owners, principals, directors, employees and the general public are permitted to submit a nomination.
- All information submitted on the nomination form must be true and correct at the time of nominating.
- Businesses may nominate in only one category.
- Businesses that become Finalists may also be considered in the Highest Recognition Awards; Lord Mayor’s Sustainability Award presented by EnergyAustralia, Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year & The YellowPages Marketing Prize.

- There are prizes awardable in the following categories/for the following awards:
- Bicycle Business Award: the winner in this category is awarded $2000 in business coaching services, provided by the City of Sydney.
- Lord Mayor’s Sustainability Award presented by EnergyAustralia: all finalists are eligible for this award, with the winner of this award receiving a LG LE5510 LEDTV. It provides Full HD 1080p picture quality with an ultra slim design. This TV helps customers save money off their electricity bills with 40% power consumption saving compared with an LCD TV.
- YellowPages Marketing Prize: all finalists in the Sydney Business Awards are eligible for this award. The winner of this prize will receive a $5000 YellowPages advertising package
- The City of Sydney Business Awards judges reserve the right to make the final determination about category placement.
- All decisions by the judges are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The public are able to vote by completing the official online form and/or sending an SMS. Only one vote per business is permitted.
- The event organisers reserve the right to verify the validity of votes and to reject any votes which are not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
- Finalists will be announced from each category based on the businesses receiving the highest number of votes in each category.
- The City of Sydney reserves the right to declare a finalist ineligible if, in the reasonable opinion of The City of Sydney, the nominee is unable to represent the Awards in a satisfactory manner, or a conflict of interest exists with the City of Sydney Council. All decisions by the City of Sydney regarding eligibility are final.
- All finalists may enter the Lord Mayor's Sustainable Business Award presented by EnergyAustralia by completing the questionnaire.
- Finalists in all categories will be required to complete a business questionnaire as part of the judging process. Information provided by businesses in the questionnaires will only be accessible to the judging panel. Questionnaires will not be returned.
- Businesses have the right to withdraw their nomination at any time until nominations close.
- The judging panel is an independent panel of representatives from business, government and academia and will be selected by the event organisers in consultation with the City of Sydney based on abilities and expertise. The panel will sign and return a confidentiality agreement before being able to participate in the judging process and their associated companies are unable to enter the awards.
- If at any time during the judging phase a finalist's business goes into administration, voluntary receivership, liquidation or bankruptcy, the finalist is required to advise the event organisers and accepts that they will no longer be a finalist. In this eventuality the event organisers will put forward the next business receiving the highest number of votes in the respective category as the replacement finalist.
- Finalists in relevant categories may receive a visit during the judging phase from a mystery shopper. Feedback from the visit will be used by the judging panel. Mystery Shopping reports will be made available to Finalists on request.
- Winners from each category will automatically be entered into the Business of the Year Award and Small Business of the Year Award chosen by the panel of judges.
- The event organisers collect personal and business information in order to conduct the Awards. If the information requested is not provided, businesses may not be eligible to nominate. By nominating each business also agrees that the event organisers can use this information in any media for future promotional and marketing purposes. Nominee's personal information may be disclosed to partners of the City of Sydney Business Awards and to the City of Sydney. Please tick the appropriate box on the Nomination Form if you do not wish to be contacted by Awards partners and the City of Sydney.
- By nominating, nominees, finalists and winners agree that the event organisers can use their images for promotional and marketing purposes across all media. In accepting these terms and conditions, you accept that you may be filmed and photographed in relation to the City of Sydney Business Awards, and that those images may appear in all forms of media, including print, online, television and other media.
- Information on the Finalists and Winners will be published on the official City of Sydney Business Awards website.
- The event organizers are not responsible for the content or privacy policies associated with linked websites to the official City of Sydney Business Awards website.
Prize Pool - Terms & Conditions
TAFE Sydney Institute Business Award Draw
- All confirmed finalist businesses in the City of Sydney Business Awards are entered into the prize draw. All finalist businesses, as part of the nomination process, accept the Terms & Conditions of the Sydney Business Awards
- The City of Sydney (Promoter) reserves the right to verify the validity of nominations in accordance with the Terms & Conditions of the Sydney Business Awards.
- Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and TAFE NSW Sydney Institute are ineligible to be in the prize draw.
- The prize is a voucher to the value of $1000 to be used toward a TAFE Sydney Institute business course.
- The prize will be drawn randomly from the pool of finalist businesses in this year’s City of Sydney Business Awards who attend the Finalist Reception on August 17. The Winner must be present, and draws will continue until a successful winner is selected. The prize winner’s name will be published on the Sydney Business Awards website www.sydneybusinessawards.com.au. Details of the prize will be sent direct to the address nominated by the Winner within two weeks of being notified. Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The total prize value is up to $1,000 and consists of a voucher for a business course at TAFE Sydney Institute. If for any reason the prize winner does not redeem the prize by the date specified then the prize is forfeited.
- The prize is not redeemable for cash. The promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the prize value or any changes made to the content by TAFE Sydney Institute.
- The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury which is suffered or sustained as a result of participating in this promotion, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
- If for any reason this promotion is not capable of running as planned, including tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fraud, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion.

Voters Cash Prize Draw
- All confirmed voters in the City of Sydney Business Awards are entered into the prize draw. All voters, as part of the voting process, accept the Terms & Conditions of the Sydney Business Awards.
- The City of Sydney (Promoter) reserves the right to verify the validity of voters in accordance with the Terms & Conditions of the Sydney Business Awards.
- Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter are not eligible.
- The prize is $1500 in cash.
- The prize will be drawn randomly from pool of voters in this year’s City of Sydney Business Awards. Voting closes at 11:59pm AEST on Friday 30 July 2010. The draw will take place at 12pm on Monday 2 August. The Winner will be notified by phone and the prize winner’s name will be published on the Sydney Business Awards website www.sydneybusinessawards.com.au. The winner will be notified by phone and email. Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The total prize value is $1500 and must be claimed by 15 August 2010. If for any reason the prize winner does not redeem the prize by the date specified then the prize is forfeited.

Carbon Planet Prize Draw
- All Finalists in the Sydney Business Awards 2010 who enter the EnergyAustralia Sustainable Business Award category are eligible to enter the draw via email. All Finalists who enter the prize draw accept the Terms & Conditions of the Sydney Business Awards.
- Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and partners of the Business Awards are not eligible.
- The prize is one of five Carbon Planet G3MS Lite Carbon Accounting Software Packages, worth $99 each.
- The prize will be drawn randomly from the pool of entries. Entries open at 9.00am AEST on 20 August June 2010 and close at 11:59pm AEST on 3 September 2010. The draw will take place at 12pm on 4 September. The Winners will be notified by phone and the prize winner’s names will be published on the Sydney Business Awards website www.sydneybusinessawards.com.au. Sensis® Yellow Pages Marketing Prize
- Information on how to be eligible and prize details form part of these conditions. Entry into the Promotion is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
- Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter are not eligible. Directors and employees of the Telstra Corporation Limited (ABN 33 051 775 556) ("Telstra") and any agencies, firms and / or companies associated with the Promotion (including suppliers of prizes) and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
- To be eligible to enter and win, a business must be nominated in the Sydney Business Awards & make it through to the finalist stage. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges based on their marketing activity to gain votes & promote their involvement in the Sydney Business Awards between June 16th, 2010 and August 9th, 2010.
- The Winner will be announced at the Sydney Business Awards dinner on September 20th, 2010. Details of the prize will be sent direct to the address nominated by the Winner within two weeks of being notified.
- The winner of the YellowPages Marketing Prize will receive a $5000 Yellow Pages® Advertising Voucher ("Prize"). The Prize can be used to obtain new Yellow Pages advertising programs, or new products within existing programs in the Yellow Pages Directory and Yellow Pages Living Local Directory, but cannot be used to pay for existing Yellow Pages advertising programs, being programs already ordered at the commencement of the Promotion Period. The Prize does not include Yellow Mobile or Yellow Online or any other Sensis products other than those mentioned in the Prize description in this clause. Unused credit will be forfeited. This certificate is not transferable or redeemable for cash. The voucher will expire 30 June 2011.
- If for any reason the prize winner does not redeem the prize by the date specified then the prize is forfeited.

- The Promoter takes no responsibility for any variation in the value of the Prize.
- If the Promoter is unable to provide the winner with the nominated Prize, the Promoter reserves the right to supply an alternative prize of similar monetary value, subject to any direction of the State lottery authority.
- If the Prize winner does not accept any element of the Prize, the Promoter is not obliged to provide the winner with a substitute prize.

- In the case of disputes, the decision of the Promoter is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
‘A Night at the Westin’ Prize
- Those who purchase tickets to the Sydney Business Awards Gala Dinner on 20th September 2010 are eligible to enter the draw.
- Ticket purchasers will receive one (1) entry per ticket purchased.
- Ticket/s must be purchased by COB Friday 10th September, 2010.
- All people that enter the draw accept the Terms & Conditions of the Sydney Business Awards.
- Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and partners of the Business Awards are not eligible.
- The prize is one (1) night accommodation for two at the Westin, Sydney on the night of 20th September, 2010. This date is not transferable.
- The prize will be drawn randomly from the pool of ticket purchasers in this year’s City of Sydney Business Awards on Monday 13th September.
- The prize winner’s name will be published on the Sydney Business Awards website www.sydneybusinessawards.com.au.
- Details of the prize will be sent direct to the address nominated by the Winner.
- The winner will be notified by Wednesday 15th September of their prize.
- Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The total prize value is $650. If for any reason the prize winner does not redeem the prize by the date specified then the prize is forfeited.
- If the prize winner is unable to take the prize, the Promoter, in their discretion may award the prize to a secondary winner.
