Terms and Conditions
Businesses must meet the eligibility criteria in order to nominate and enter the City of Sydney Business Awards. Each business must:
have its principal place of business located in the Local Government Area of the City of Sydney,
have fewer than 200 full time employees,
The event organisers reserve the right to verify the validity of business names, ABNs and ACNs.
Only nominations completed on the official Nomination Form on the web site will be accepted as valid.
By submitting the nomination form, businesses accept the Terms and Conditions
Only business owners, principals, directors or employees are permitted to submit a nomination.
All information submitted on the nomination form must be true and correct at the time of nominating.
Businesses may nominate in only one category.
The City of Sydney Business Awards judges reserve the right to make the final determination about category placement.
All decisions by the judges are final and no correspondence will be entered into
The public are able to vote by completing the official online form and/or sending an SMS. Each person has up to 6 votes (3 SMS and 3 online). Only one vote per business is permitted.
The event organisers reserve the right to verify the validity of votes and to reject any votes which are not in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.
Four finalists will be announced from each category based on the four businesses receiving the highest number of votes.
The City of Sydney reserves the right to declare a finalist ineligible if, in the reasonable opinion of The City of Sydney the nominee is unable to represent the Awards in a satisfactory manner, or a conflict of interest exists with the City of Sydney Council. All decisions by the City of Sydney regarding eligibility are final.
All finalists will automatically be entered into the Lord Mayor's Sustainability Prize, chosen by the panel of judges.
Finalists in all categories will be required to complete a business questionnaire as part of the judging process. Information provided by businesses in the questionnaires will only be accessible to the judging panel. Questionnaires will not be returned.
Businesses have the right to withdraw their nomination at any time until nominations close (Friday 25 July).
The judging panel is an independent panel of representatives from business, government and academia and will be selected by the event organisers in consultation with the City of Sydney based on abilities and expertise. The panel will sign and return a confidentiality agreement before being able to participate in the judging process and their associated companies are unable to enter the awards.
If at any time during the judging phase a finalist's business goes into administration, voluntary receivership, liquidation or bankruptcy, the finalist is required to advise the event organisers and accepts that they will no longer be a finalist. In this eventuality the event organisers will put forward the next business receiving the highest number of votes in the respective category as the replacement finalist.
Finalists in relevant categories may receive a visit during the judging phase from a mystery shopper. Feedback from the visit will be used by the judging panel.
Winners from each category will automatically be entered into the Business of the Year Award, chosen by the panel of judges.
The event organisers collect personal and business information in order to conduct the Awards. If the information requested is not provided, businesses may not be eligible to nominate. By nominating each business also agrees that the event organisers can use this information in any media for future promotional and marketing purposes. Nominee's personal information may be disclosed to partners of the City of Sydney Business Awards and to the City of Sydney. Please tick the appropriate box on the Nomination Form if you do not wish to be contacted by Awards partners and the City of Sydney.
By nominating, nominees, finalists and winners agree that the event organisers can use their images for promotional and marketing purposes across all media. In accepting these terms and conditions, you accept that you may be filmed and photographed in relation to the City of Sydney Business Awards, and that those images may appear in all forms of media, including print, online, television and other media.
Information on the Finalists and Winners will be published on the official City of Sydney Business Awards website.
